How Qatar gratuity is calculated
Your daily wage is your last basic monthly salary divided by 30. The law guarantees a minimum of 21 days (3 weeks) of basic salary per year of service, and part years are paid in proportion once you complete one year. Many contracts are more generous and give 30 days per year — if yours does, enter your contract rate in the calculator. Unlike Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Qatar has no resignation scale: resigning pays the same as being terminated.
Worked example
Basic salary QAR 8,000, 5 years of service: daily wage = 8,000 ÷ 30 = QAR 266.67. Gratuity = 21 days × 5 years × 266.67 = QAR 28,000. If your contract gives 30 days per year, the same service pays QAR 40,000.
Frequently asked questions
Is Qatar gratuity 21 days or 30 days per year?
The law sets a minimum of 21 days (3 weeks) of basic salary per year. Your contract may give more, commonly 30 days. It can never lawfully give less than 21.
Do I lose gratuity if I resign in Qatar?
No. After one year of service the gratuity is due whether you resign, your contract expires, or your employer ends it. Only dismissal for gross misconduct (Article 61) can forfeit it.
Is Qatar gratuity calculated on basic or total salary?
Last basic wage only. Allowances and bonuses are excluded.
